Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween 2016! This is Paris' 1st Halloween in her lifetime so we have to make it special right? The trick-or-treaters come around 6:00 PM and stop around 9:00 PM so we will be sure to post picture throughout the night of Paris' fun adventures meeting new kids and having fun! Although the constant doorbell ringing may drive her a bit crazy! Not to mention the kids repetitively saying the word 'treat.'

Paris and I wish you all a fun and safe Halloween night!

Halloween Bowl DIY! Easy Pumpkin Candy Bowl!

DIY Pumpkin Candy Bowl!
Halloween 2016

Happy Halloween! For this Halloween I wanted to do something a little bit more unique when handing out my candy. So I decided on making a real pumpkin candy bowl. I got this idea originally at Target while looking for Halloween candy, then I found out it had already been down by many bloggers. The directions & ingredients are what I used to make my own bowl, they are not from another blogger's website. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

- Real or faux pumpkin, preferably tall
- Knife or pumpkin tools
- Scooper or spoon
- Saran wrap
- Bowl
- Spray paint (optional)

Directions:

1. Start off by drawing a circle around your pumpkin using a pencil, make your marks heavy and dark. Make sure the lines are straight and even, you don't want a lopsided bowl!

2. Next trace the pencil line with a thick black sharpie or marker.

3. Using a knife or pumpkin carver, cut on just below the sharpie line.  Throw away the top half of the pumpkin.

4. Scoop out the inards of the bottom half of the pumpkin. Try to get as much out as possible.

5. Let the pumpkin dry outside for 1 hour or inside for as long as desired.

6. Cover the inside with clean wrap (aka saran wrap), to protect the candy.

7. If you would like to, take spray paint and spray the exterior of the pumpkin (dark orange part only) the matching color of your Halloween costume or whatever color you'd like to.

8. Lastly insert the bowl of your choice and pour in some delicious candy into your DIY pumpkin bowl!

Happy Halloween!

Calming Glitter Slime! Recipe #3!

Calming Glitter Slime
Recipe #3

Okay, so I don't really think this is even a recipe but it is a cool craft you can make with a friend or family member! I introduce to you: Calming Glitter Slime! I have only made this twice but it is always a fun experience to mix colors and scents to create the best slime ever! The original website for the recipe is: http://lemonlimeadventures.com/calming-glitter-slime/ . Let's get crafting!

Ingredients:

Liquid starch
Clear Elmer's Glue
Food Coloring
Glitter
Calming Essential Oils
- Lavender
- Macadamia Nut (my favorite)
- Almond
- Joy
- Cedarwood

Directions:

First, mix together 1.5 oz bottle of clear glue and some of your liquid starch. We started with 4 oz in our jar but we slowly mixed it in, to make sure we had the right consistency. Add your glitter and a few drops of food coloring (you can always add more later).
Next stir everything together. If your slime is gooey and stringy, mix in a tad more glue or stir a little more (sometimes it just needs a lot of attention). If your slime is too sticky and solid, add in some more liquid starch. There is no wrong or right way to do this, simply add a little more or less of each.
Now onto the fun sensory step. To really get your slime good and mixed you need to knead it and squeeze it. This is where our recipe went a little off. We kept adding liquid starch which was making the slime less sticky and in turn made our slime very “flubberish”. This is completely a choice. Remember how I said its okay if you don’t have the recipe just like mine.
Finally, once you have the consistency you like, add in just a few drops of calming essential oils. It doesn’t take a lot. We used 3 drops of Peace and Calming (or any other calming oil) and then just started kneading and squeezing the slime again.

Snickerdoodles! Recipe #2!

Snickerdoodles
Recipe #2

Can you believe Halloween is just hours away?! I'm so thrilled! I decided to show you one of my favorite recipes for the fall time: snickerdoodles! I have made these yummy cookies countless of times! The original recipe is from http://www.realsimple.com/ (type in 'snickerdoodles' in the search bar on the site.) Let's get baking!

Ingredients:
Makes 30 cookies, double for 60.

1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 & 1/8 of sugar (separate cups)
1 large egg
1 tsp.  vanilla extract
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Heat oven to 375° F. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  1. With an electric mixer, beat the butter, brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, 2 to 3 minutes. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Reduce speed to low and gradually add the flour mixture, mixing just until incorporated.
  1. In a shallow bowl, combine the cinnamon and the remaining 1/8 cup of granulated sugar. Form the dough into balls (each equal to 1 level tablespoon). Roll the balls in the cinnamon sugar mixture and place on parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  1. Bake until the edges are golden, 12 to 14 minutes. Cool slightly on the baking sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Fries! Recipe #1

   Pumpkin Cheesecake Fries
Recipe #1

For my first recipe of this blog, I will be starting off with a delicious fall treat; pumpkin cheesecake fries! Yum! I tried this recipe out today and it was a total success! The original recipe is from http://www.delish.com/ if you would like to check out many more of their delish recipes! Let's get baking!

Ingredients:

1/3 cup pumpkin pie filling
1/3 cup cream cheese, softened (this is VERY important!)
12 slices of whole wheat bread with crusts removed (regular white bread works too)
6 tbsp. butter
1 cup cinnamon sugar
Caramel sauce, warmed (for dipping)

Tips:
- Use a non-stick skillet when cooking fries.
- Remember to warm the cream cheese.

Directions:

  1. 1. In a medium bowl, whisk together pumpkin pie filling and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. 2. Using a rolling pin, roll bread slices into thin, flat squares. Spread a thin layer of the pumpkin-cream cheese mixture over each slice and roll up tightly. These are your “fries."
  3. 3. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Working in batches, add the pumpkin fries to the skillet, seam side-down. Cook, turning often, until all sides are golden, about 3 minutes. Wipe the skillet clean with a paper towel and add more butter before adding more fries.
  4. 4. Roll cooked pumpkin cheesecake fries in cinnamon sugar until coated. Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping.

This recipe is from the website delish. This is not my original recipe.

Post Walk Snack

Paris is one hungry girl! After taking Paris on our usual estimated one mile walk she sure is a hungry little pup! Since it has been only a couple of weeks after Paris' first big haircut, her harness is not as fitting as it should. One day is just slipped right off in the middle of a slow jog. Now we dress Paris in a dress, coat, or sweater before leaving the house along with her harness and leash from Petsmart! After her walk we reward Paris with a Bacon Bit treat!

*Here are the links to Paris' harness, sweater, leash, treats, and poop bags, just in case you are looking for some new pet accessories! I couldn't find the exact leash, but here is the leash to match the harness.*

Harness: Pet Smart Top Paw Orange Refelctive Harness
Leash: Pet Smart Top Paw Stripe Reflective Leash
Sweater: TJ Maxx Humane Society Bailey Dog Sweater
Paris' Favorite Treats: Beggin' Strips (Bacon Flavor)
